A bit of cheery news for a change

I have noticed a distinct lack of gleefulness recently (from me) so I thought I would give some good news.  I forgot to mention that in August I had my 60th birthday and went for a fabulous meal with some of my family to the recently restored (by Englishanne60party Heritage) The Monastery in Gorton, Manchester, we had the small chapel (see picture) to ourselves, and it was fabulous.  Also a picture of myself and my brother just after he gave a very embarrassing history of our lives, it was quite touching really.

The other exciting part about being 60 over here in the UK is that I get free transport.  As I don’t drive this is fabulous.  Yesterday I decided I would ‘just pop into Manchester’ as it is only 5 minutes on the bus I was in and out of town and back to work in just over an hour.  A nice little escape from work.  I also get lots of ‘senior citizen’ discounts, just loving being old.  And, the major yippee is that as from next week I get my pension.  How fantastic is that!!

Glad you enjoyed your birthday and the new perks it brings you! You look a very youthful 60.

It’s my birthday in a couple weeks and I was hoping to be walking for it, but don’t want to expect too much, so I’ll just say walking better.

Happy belated Birthday Annie. See I told you - wait til next May!

PS Can we have your reserves!!!!

For a small chapel that looks a lot like Wembley stadium…
Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday - how wonderful. Let’s hope things keep getting better for you :)

Hi Annie,
Just thought I’d stop by and ask how you are.
Any news on the scan yet?
Take care,
Sam

Hi Annie,
Saw you mentioned booking your scan for yesterday afternoon - how did it go?
Sam

Hi Sam,

All went to plan with MRI scan but I was late getting there, there was a bad accident on our way and a young man and his 4 year old son died. Puts things into perspective.

Results of scan due to get to surgeon by Wednesday so will see what happens, I don’t expect anything to show up really.

You seem to be progressing really well, just hope you get that lift pass!! And your physio seems to be really good, all my previous physio ever did was ultrasound, my new physio’s were very shocked at that, so whatever happens I will stick to the new physio centre.

Hope things progress a bit quicker for you now. It’s dreadful that even going privately they messed up booking your scan appointment - bet they’ll still charge the full amounts for everything!
Thanks, it does still feel quite slow but can see small improvements all the time. I mentioned ultrasound to my physio whilst chatting and she said she sometimes uses it in conjunction with massage etc but doesn’t feel it would give any benefit to me over what we’re already doing.
Hope you get some answers very soon, take care.

Hi Annie - Just wanted to check in on how you’re doing. Have you heard any news back on the scan results? Hopefully you’re heard something back by now. I know it must be frustrating.

Hi Tom,

Nothing yet, been very irritated with both my surgeon and the imaging centre, all seem to have either forgotten or lost things… I have just received a letter for an appointment on 11 November, yes it is frustrating.

I was reading Doug53’s test on the blog today, hubby and I were sitting in the office trying to work it out but ended up tying ourselves in knots and obviously not doing it properly.

Will keep you posted, how are you coming along, I have been checking your progress.

Annie - I’m slowly building strength back in my calf. The bottom of my tendon has been a bit sore, so I haven’t been able to push things as much as I’d like. Hopefully it’s just my body adjusting to increased activity.

I hope you get some answers next week.
