Would you like to help?

As I was reading rckclimr2’s excellent physical therapy post, I was wondering if anyone is interested in helping by adding information that’s lacking on AchillesBlog. I haven’t added much more helpful information in a few weeks, as I think I’ve reached my limit on what I’ve learned about ATR and recovery.

I’ve been adding things here and there from what I have been learning from our conversations and your blogs.

As you read the main site, if you find things to be incomplete or would like to add more knowledge that you feel would help others who are following in our footpaths, please let me know.

If you are interested, you can create “pages” or “posts” on your blog. And then, I could either link it to you from the main site, or I can copy the information over. You could take what’s already there and make it better. Whichever way you prefer.

For example, the “Physical Therapy” section on the main site is inadequate. Thanks to Dr. Ross, I have that excellent pdf guide on home exercises and that’s about it.

Or if the information needs to be organized in a better way, or some new sections need to be added/expanded.. Maybe some of the things that I describe can be better explained. I am not a writer by trade, and I see there are many excellent writers frequenting the pages here.

For example, I would like to move all the sections under Chronology of Achilles Rupture to Recovery over to my own blog (achillesblog.com/dennis), and replace it with more concise explanations of each of the stages of injury to recovery.

I’d like the main page to be a community page where everyone can contribute on how best to explain and help people with ATR. Can it be an Open Source page? Please let me know. Suggestions, criticism, etc. You can also comment anonymously. ;)

    I would love to help..
If you have specific questions, I will research and post as best I can..
I have scoured my “Doctor” journals for articles and have come up with a lot..most in doctor language. Is their a topic that we need the most info on..I will focus on that.

    leeisme,
Just read your shower protocol. I got exhausted just reading it. I
my first shower I thought I had everything under control, did my business, got out and realized I left the towels in the bedroom, nothing like hopping around wet, naked and laughing at how stupid I was.
thanks for the info on the cast guard.

Dr. Ross - thanks for your help.
The site is lacking in information on Early Weight Bearing.
We have some papers/studies on EWB, but there isn’t much information written for a non-medical audience. It would be very useful for people to have early weight bearing explained in plain language, with all the positive/negative findings from various papers/studies included as well (without really taking sides on way or another).

We also need more information on physical therapy, when it’s best to start, what type of exercises, etc. I think Mitch’s (rckclimr2) physical therapy post is a good start. If we could also have illustrations and concise information that reads like a physical therapy exercise guide, I think it would be very helpful for others.

Thanks, our resource on Achilles related information has grown substantially with your help. I really appreciate it. :D

Dr. Ross, thanks for the links.

Are you able to access the full text (pdf) of ajs.sagepub.com article? I don’t have access it unfortunately. If you do, please let me know.

is a great find, I’ll put that one on the main site immediately.
    :D

It looks like I have the other two already at: ATR Rehab Protocols, Publications, Studies

If you look there, there are a bunch of links. That’s good, but it would also be useful for someone who can digest all the information and write an easier to read guide for the rest of us.

If there is a volunteer, please let me know. If not, then I’ll put it on my todo list. ;)

johnskier - Yes, please email it to me as well. I’ll put it up on the site so that everyone can use it. My email address is:
admin[#A0TT&achillesblog .com Just remove all the garble between “admin” and “achillesblog.com” and replace it with an “@”.

My plan is to have a similar progress tracker on achillesblog, but I’ve been very busy recently. So it’ll have to wait for now..

There has been some drastic changes here, so I’ve been very, very busy. ;)

    thanks.
