AchillesBlog site issues? Let me know here.

AchillesBloggers,

I’ve been concentrating on getting the AchillesBlog website more stable, and I devoted a chunk of my vacation time for this.

For example, I’ve found the “Gravatar” plugin that was causing huge problem on the site, so I’ve disabled it temporarily until I can fix it by getting the latest version or finding a replacement that is more stable.

The Gravatar allows your own picture as part of your comments, and you’ll notice that you don’t see the little avatars anymore. Don’t worry, I’ll be re-adding this again, but I felt that the stability of the site was more important.

I will also upgrade to a more recent version of the Wordpress software and then re-add all the code customizations that I’ve made so that this site is tailored for us.

In hopes of getting AchillesBlog to be rock-solid for all of us to use, I would like to reserve this page for everyone to comment and give me feedback on what’s not working right.

If the site is down, please either email me at achillesblog@gmail.com, or comment on this page later on when the site it back up. Please be as detailed as you can when you are reporting problems.

For example, “I tried to add a comment to http://achillesblog.com/dennis/2010/11/26/happy-thanksgiving-black-friday/ and when I typed in the comment, and then clicked Submit, I just got a blank page. I was using firefox browser from windows vista pc, and I experienced the same problem with Internet explorer too. This was around 2:15pm EST 12/3/2010. And reading posts on your blog, as well as others, seem fine.”

    hi,
my name is Steve, and it will be a year on March 21st since rupturing my achilles tendon. it was surgically repaired, but shortly after the surgery i feel and stretched the sutcher, leaving a gap in my newly constructed achilles. fortunately i was able to still proceed in my recovery and did gain strength in the tendon and thought i was out of the woods. however, i had an appointment in February, and my surgeon was not happy about the noticeable gap still reconizable in the tendon. not to mention, he doesn’t believe it is as strong as it should be. he really didn’t elaborate on what direction i should take other than, give it a year, and if you still have a noticeable limp surgery may need to be looked at again in order to repair. i don’t want to start over!!! is there anything i can do…i’m walking and the achilles feels better, but still a small gap where i stretched the sutcher…any thoughts as to what i should do???

Hi - I am unable to figure out how to get the widgets working. It seems that maybe I am not seeing or accessing all of the choices to set up. Please set them up for me. Thank you!

  • 4 dennis // Jun 13, 2011 at 11:53 pm

tcoast772 - Please enter your injury date and treatment dates to your Achilles Profile. You can do that by signing in and going to ( Users -> Your Achilles Profile )

Please let me know if you need more assistance than this. thanks!

AchillesBloggers - I think I’ve fixed the picture upload problem that’s been happening there. (not 100% sure yet, until you confirm.) Please let me know if you are able to add pictures to your posts. You shouldn’t be getting a “blank page” any more. Happy healing! :)

    Hi

I can log in but cant create or access my own page.

  • 7 dennis // Dec 2, 2011 at 5:37 pm

jimaimpup - To create a new blog, please create a user account first. And then, please send me an e-mail (achillesblog@gmail.com) from the e-mail address that you registered with, and I’ll create a blog for you. Please tell me what your username is, and mention briefly how your injury was caused. (The amount of spam blogs that gets created on the site is becoming unmanageable, so I’ve decided to restrict creation of blogs to just me.) I check the site frequently and check AchillesBlog e-mails from my phone, so it’ll won’t take long for you to get your blog up and running

Your web site has been most helpful! I have a blog that I started BEFORE trying to put it on your site. How can I get it to post/link on YOUR site?

Dennis - kudos for setting up and managing this site. This is such an amazing resource.

I signed up a few weeks back after rupturing my achilles, but never received the hello world email. I’m sure I did something wrong, but on my page there is no option for editing an entry. I never received the Hello World email, so perhaps that’s the problem. How do I get unstuck?

    Thank you again!

ekiaer - thanks. I’ve created the blog for you. You should have received an email from me. If you didn’t please let me know. happy healing.

Hi I’d like to get a blog upland running so I can put my timeline on etc but have no idea how.
I’ve registered with the main site.
    Please help!!
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • 13 normofthenorth // May 8, 2013 at 9:30 pm

bambam, just scroll up a page or so to dennis’s response to jimaimpup’s question, and follow those steps. The same steps should be on the Main Page, too. After a few days, you’ll see a bunch of new blogs — including yours — entitled “Hello World” on the main page. Click on yours after logging in, and you’ll have the power to replace the boilerplate text with your story.

Hi Dennis. Can you add the ATR timeline widget to my page please?
The ‘add’ button is not next to the description. Therefore I can’t add it!

    - Except I think maybe I actually received the ‘Hello World’ post. I have registered my Achilles profile and my personal profile, and I can log in and use my dashboard. But I can’t create posts, and I can’t find my blog site…

As a bit of a technophobe, can you please help me to start up my own blog as I can’t see anything obvious from my login page.

    Hi Dennis,

I am trying to register so I can create my blog, but I’m getting an “invalid activation key” error when I follow the activation link I got in my email. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Eric
