PT starts tomorrow - nervous
September 8, 2009 | |
6 weeks post op, FWB walking around in the boot 100% of the time.
I’m a little nervous that the PT will push me too hard and I’ll hear the dreaded POP! I read another post on here where a physician pushed a patient too far. I guess I have to trust that they know what they’re doing.

I read that post too but my physio was great, although only the first session so wil be uch harder to come.
If it hurts too much or is it too worrying question it - you’re paying and it’s your leg!
Good luck,
Sam
Hi Tom
My PT starts next week, I am a little nervous about what they will do. I think If they start to push you and it hurts, ask them to slow down as you do not feel comfortable with it. They want you to get better, but if you are in pain tell them. They will only hurt you if you let them. Good luck.

Thx Lee and Sam66:
Much ado about nothing re. my first “real” PT session. If anything, I wish he’d have worked me a little harder. ROM stuff, massage, quad strengthening, balance, flexibility, stretching, etc. He asked me to wear two shoes to the next session, so I think he’s going to ramp it up a bit next week.
… just puttering around the house in TWO SHOES! Yee Haw! (For those in the UK, that’s a cheer we hillbillies make when we are happy - cousin to “Hee Haw” which you’ve no doubt seen in reruns (less the breasts))
I’m sure this is common, but the PT had me do a little move yesterday that hurt like a $#@!&%!
Back in the boot today
Back on crutches - no boot though. My fear of PT was well founded!
Sorry you’ve suffered what must feel like a setback to you, sure it’ll recover before long.
My physio has only hurt me with some massage and hasn’t pushed me with anything too hard yet - slow but sure seems to be her style and much as I want to progress at least it feels safer at the moment.
Hope you’re back FWB soon.
Take care,
Sam
