Infection!?!?!? Doh!

So I was feeling ontop of the world, Physio was going well and I was able to wear my trainers for most of the day and get about the house without crutches.

I had a slight stumble which stretched out my achilles and after the initial scare I realised there was no pain and my movement had improved… Triump out of Tradegy maybe?

Last night I went to my 4th session of Physio, Sue got be going some light work on the Bike (No resistance) and also on the stepper. It was great to do a little bit of cardio work it’s been age’s and doesn’t my body know it!

My walking has improved no end, but Sue was concerned that i was unable to get any bend in my Left knee when walking. So She got me to try and walk with bent knees on the parrall bars, whiich I could do while supporting myself. I had one try at doing it unsupported but I felt something give alittle - which scared the hell out of me!

Sue worked on the scar area, but noticed that it ws extermely red, which it had been for a few days now.It may be  a slight infection or just some inflamation, so I’ve a course of anti-inflamitaries to take over the weekend and if it’s not any better by Tuesday she’ll refer me to the Dr’s to get some anti-biotics!

7 weeks 5 days - possible infection?!?!

Feeling the slight give last night has had a negative effect mentally on me though! Although I have no pain my walking has regressed back to where I was 2 weeks ago, I think because I’m scarred of re-rupture ( although highly unlikely).

I’m off to London on Sunday as It’s my Dad’s Bday. He’s a massive rock fan so we’re off to a gig at the Astoria. I’ll be wearing my removavle cast to be safe, but may only take one crutch!

Back to work Monday, at last :) - I’ll post again after Tuesday Physio

Cheers

Jimbo,
You’ve got me worrying a bit. I’m at the hospital on Tues for hopefully cast off and boot. That will be nearly 7 weeks post op.

My worry concerns a blister like sensation which has developed over the past few days around the wound site. I don’t think its a full blown blister, it feels like the soreness you get when a shoe starts to rub but before the blister forms. If I had weeks to go before my next appt then I would go and see them but as I’m going in on Tues……..

Richard

Hi Richard,
It’s probably due to your leg shrinking in the cast and you having a bit of movement inside now. Good luck for Tuesday, i’m sure it will be fine!
I’ve got fed up of my temp cast & shoe , so managed to get a walker boot of Ebay for £16.
I’ll donate it to the hospital once i’m out of it completely!
All the best
Jimbo

Jimbo,
Yes I think you’re probably right - I just can’t contemplate another set-back.

I still wonder why they didn’t give you a boot in the first place, it seems strange. I bet they turn down your offer of the boot donation (health and safety)!!!!
Cheers
Richard

PS - very worried about Leeds Utd v Histon this week-end - the ingredients are all there - live on telly, poxy little ground, the whole country willing on the in form underdog etc etc etc

I know what you mean, i’m feeling sorry for myself today after my little pull yesterday. I know deep down that ihaven’t don any major damage, just been overly cusiouos today.

PS - Should be a good game Sunday, and with Beckford out injured Histons chances are improved! I was at Stmarys a few seasons back, taking the micky out of the leeds fans at half time with saints winning 3-0…. oh how i regreted it at full time after a great come back - 3-4 to Leeds

Iremember the 3-4 game well- We were a decent never say die team then - I seem to remember a young Alan Smith having a good game that day

Hi,
Just curious how it went with the infection? I have been on cipro for 2 weeks, and it is still red, etc. I do not want him to go in again. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Matt

Hi Matt,
It turned out that I was just inflamed and no infection.

So probably not the best to ask about Infections, worth checking with your GP though.

All the best with the recovery!
Jimbo
