So right this minute I’m 3 weeks and 1 hour post surgery, and supposed to be working up to  50% PWB over the past week. And I have to admit the experience has been tricky. Most of all I’m just not used to going so s…..l……o….w…… if I try to move at anything more than a snail’s [...]

So as I’ve mentioned a few times, I’ve been following the Tour de France pretty religiously. After watching the satge live on Friday night, I’m late to bed (stage finished around 2am from memory….
…and managed to get myself into a break-away group. I was feeling great, and timed my attack on the hill perfectly, stood [...]

Despite being recommended 2-3 weeks off work (and having plenty of accumulated sick leave) I’ve been back at work for a few days already, found sitting around at home just too boring! One of my colleagues gives me a lift up to the hospital for my post-op review.
The boot comes off for the first time, [...]

Today 6/6/09 is day 4 post surgery. Going well so far, nothing more than an ache to deal with, except if I sit upright for too long, when my foot swells up and my toes feel like they are about to pop.
A marathon teleconference today, spend literally the whole day on the lounge, on the [...]

My suspicions about the cam boot being a nuisance in bed were well founded, and I didn’t sleep that well. At 6′1″ and with size 12 feet, foot room at the bed is always at a premium, so adding a 6 inch platform boot with a rubber sole doesn’t help matters.
The blankets drag down, and [...]

My pre-op consult on Tuesday went fine, so first thing in the morning I’m here at the private hospital and ready for my op.  I’ve talked it over with the surgeon, and he’s agreed to do me first on the list so all going well I don’t have to stay the night. This saves me [...]

Everyone is asking me why I’m going to the public hospital on the emergency list instead of having it done privately (I work in a medical related field, my wife is an anaesthetist, and many of our friends are docs). I’m not really too sure…
My wife talks to the reg scheduled to do the surgery [...]

Had my orthopaedioc clinic consultation today 25/6/09 at the local public hospital, consultant and registrar both agree that despite the tear being high up, surgical repair is likely to result in stronger more functional outcome. I’m an active (recreational) sportsperson - mountain and road biker, hiker, downhill and backcountry skier, some-time rock climber, and tend [...]

[copied from my post to MTBR forums where I sometime hang out online]
Just signing up as another member of the AT rupture club. I did mine Monday night (22/6/09) playing squash. No warning at all of impending doom, just stepping forward to make an easy return and “POP!”, and I came up about a foot [...]
