Two Shoes :)
I popped in to the doctor’s office yesterday for a six week check up. I wasn’t expecting anything more than a poke and a prod and another two weeks in the walking boot. To my surprise the doctor said to ditch the walking boot and to start physical therapy. Two shoes???!!!
I got the usual instructions: no running or jumping. However, I got the go ahead for the following activities: walking, rowing, and riding.
My walking boot was good to me. I’m going to put her away and don’t think I’m going to miss her.
Any thoughts on yoga? Thanks all!

Interesting Wes…cable rowing is an activity that many of the PT routines I have looked at suggest you do not resume for a while as it the loading motion will dorsiflex the foot. Rowing machine is one of the few gym activities I have not returned to, even at 14 weeks. I would proceed cautiously…

I am with Seaweed. My doctor cleared me to return to my normal activities as tolerated and I love the rowing machine but won’t go near it. I was also told no dorsiflexion activities.
Glad to hear your doing well Wes.

Hi - I am at 10 weeks and I have been on rowing machine (with two legs) since 8 weeks. My PT said as long as I push through my heel it is okay. What a surprise - we are getting conflicting information. I also did elliptical today because i am in a hotel that does not having a rowing machine or a bike where I can push through my heals. Have others done elliptical? I pushed through my heels as I do on rowing machine/bike.

Thanks as always guys! I jumped on a rower a day after this post. It caused enough pain that I decided not to row for a bit. (My rule of thumb for now is: if it hurts I’m not going to do it.) So, for now, it’s still one-legged rowing and modified training. My first physical therapy session was uneventful.

Great new rule of thumb. I followed that one as well–most of the time.
@Sally: I did the elliptical in the boot and in two shoes early on with no problems. PT said it was fine but thought the bike was better if she had the choice between the two. I feel like I get a better work out on the spin bike and standing/pedaling really works the healing leg (quad and calf.)

Hey Wes I’ve been reading your posts. I also am a CrossFitter and I compete in the Southeast states, as well as Olympic Lifting. I found that cool that somebody on here does kind of the same amount of training as I do, and also had a freak accident as I did. Just curious.. How does it feel in two shoes after such a short time? It is uncomfortable just to even take small steps?
Good Luck!!
