Another Day
Well today was just another day, nothing special. The pain really came on last night, partly because I actually did not want to take the meds. I actually wanted to see how bad the pain really got. Not a smart move! The medicine does not work as fast as I expected it to so I had to endure the painful pulsations coming from my Achilles. It felt as if I could feel every single stitch that the doctor made, and it feels like my cut is pretty long too. I thought these things were only supposed to be about 3 inches? I really feel like taking off the bandages that are on my leg just to take a glance at it. I guess I will have to settle for seeing it when I got get my stitches removed. I bet that procedure is a pain in the backside too.
My wife is still being such an angel. She is really taking care of me and canceling a lot of her plans so that she can be with me. I have told her a couple of times to go out with one of her friends and not be held hostage with me in the house. She has been keeping me up on my med times, keeping me clean, fed, off the stairs, and still keeping the whole house spotless. What can I say, I know how to pick’em. I think I will try to make it in to work on Monday as well. How long did some of you guys stay off of work before going back?
Until tomorrow

A somewhat shorter post today, was really looking forward to a long read over my lunch, but I will let you off, especially if you are still in pain.
I took a week off work, but I did work from home and emailed things into the office for them to deal with and print and post for me, so that kept me busy and my mind was active all the time.
You will need to envourage your wife to go out with her friends as soon as possible it is important that she doesn’t just become a nurse!!
I would leave returning to work for a few more days yet if you can.
Looking forward to the next installment.

Hopefully you have a job where you can sit and elevate your leg a lot….otherwise you will have a tough go of it. You really need to keep your leg up and ice as much as possible for the first couple weeks….rest is best (as much as you can) with this injury.
Guys, humph !! I posted to you that you should stay on top of the pain meds because it is harder to conquer the pain once it is full tilt. ….especially right after the cocktail they provided you with at the hospital wore off…..sorry you had to go through that. ;(
My incision is 4 inches, but I have seen some as long as 6 inches. I had 12 staples and 12 stitches removed…ouch….but some on this site have the disolvable stitches that don’t need removing at all, so maybe you’ll be a lucky one. All I remember about having my stitches/staples removed was a lot of deep breathing and a lot of sweating….but then again, I’m a wimp
I also will look forward to your post tomorrow.
Take care and rest, rest, elevate!! I have big plans today…..chiropractor and PT, ugh
