One year post op… And I need some advice!

Hi guys,

It’s been about one year post-op for me. Ever since then I’ve been exercising, getting back into tennis and badminton and has been working out at home. There has been no major pain, just aches here and there.

However, the last few days have been hard. I have pain around my rupture point when I move my ankle and when I put weight on it. I got my boyfriend to do a calf squeeze and it was negative. My ankle flex downward when he squeezed it.

I’m wondering if I sprained it, tore it again (partially?) the pain is at the back of my heel. I’m really scared that I tore it again. Was going to try ice it? Would that help?

Wow Twinklebell, I hope you are okay. Since you are a year post-op and you have good function, chances are you just have some inflammation. I think RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) and NSAIDSs are what you need to calm down any inflammation you may have going on in there. If you are still able to walk with a normal gait and your Thompson Test is okay I would think you just strained it a bit, but the pain is definitely a message to take it easy!

I have found that the people who use this site are sincerely well meaning and there is lots of good information to be found here in shared stories, however, it’s a web site for blogging personal experiences and not a place for medical diagnosis. This site is great for support but misinformation is rampant. So this is my advice…if I were in pain and though I’d re injured my tendon I’d get examined by my doctor. Best of luck to you.
