11th week post op appointment.
I had my 11 wok post op appointment today. My OP got right down to business. He told me it’s been 3 months since my surgery,it’s time to lose the boot and crutches, and put on a regular sh,I start therapy tomorrow. . I am extremely excited to get off of crutches but I’m hesitant. I don’t feel comfortable without the boot/crutches yet. I will be assessed tomorrow and they can tell me about how long they recommend I need therapy. As of right now I am going twice a week for 4 weeks. That seems kind of short but I will see….
I came out of the boot completely at 11 weeks as well. However I had started PT at week 6, so probably a good idea to talk to PT before deciding what you are ready for. My OS had said I could be out of the boot at week 9, but my PT was a little more cautious, since I only removed the last wedge from my boot during week 9. So at week 9, we settled on no boot in house, boot on stairs and when going out.
I am now almost 14 weeks post op and walked 3 miles this past weekend at a good pace. Use your body as a guide. I really have had no pain, though I continue to have some swelling. Best of luck with your recovery.
@lindaF That is what made it so weird, instill have wedges in my walking boot. Plus i was only putting 10%of my weight on my foot…..now he says just walk….lol.
