Week 11
Posted on January 9th, 2012 by tornj
Saturday I jogged over the livingroom - floor, twice! Very good feeling, but only a test. Yesterday, walking in terrain – that was great exerice for my ancle. I will continue dayly terrainwalking (when weather allows it:-). So far no pain when exercising. I know that pain is NOT good for rehab, and should absolutely be avoided.
Does anybody know when to start easy jogging? And how to progress.
All the best!

Hi Tor
I can only give you my experience re jogging. I’m at 29 weeks since ATR. I have only been jogging very gently this past 3 weeks, and I mean gently. I started off walking my dogs around a park, jogging 50 metres with them then walking 50 metres. I did about 6 lots of this the first time and was shattered even though I’d been back riding my bike for a month previous and been using the gym on the cycle trainer since about week 12.
My PTs advice when I asked him if I could re-start jogging before Xmas was only when you can do single heel lifts on the bad leg. I struggle to do more than a few now but my gently jog/walk routine has expanded to 400 metre jog followed by 50 metre walk. I can easily do 6 repetitions of this now.
My advice - take it easy. Get on the non-impact exercise first - static bike and low resistance. Don’t try and run before you can walk! Remember the key word in your recovery - patience!

Thanks Neville. I can not do single heel lift (or I dont dare to do) , so jogging has to wait. So it has to be more terrain-walking, and gently heel lift. Thank you for answer!
