FIRST DAYS OF REHAB

The weight off my foot is awesome!!
Even though the space boot is the absolute most cumbersome thing we will wear on our feet, the freedom to put it on or remove it is great. Being able to take a shower again is great, but most all working in the foot and doing all the exercises is a great feeling because it is the road back to getting on my feet again.
I am grateful that one of my best friends is an athletic therapist who will always tell me straight up in terms of where my progress is and what I need to be doing to get to where I need to be. I know don’t get me wrong I think any credible professional in the physical rehab profession is going to do their job but the fact that we have that connection gives the confidence to work and endure the painful parts of therapy. One part of which is the flushing out massage towards the end of my session, the first few rubs are always the worst but I see and feel the results soon after.
This was what my first two sessions consisted of
(All exercises are basically based around building back dorsi flexion):
- Heat pad 10 min
- Exercises for 3 sets each -Alphabet, sweeps, stretches, toe scrunchies, shin stretches, toe taps)
- Balance against the wall and rock back and forth side to side
- One foot flamingo balancing.
All of that takes about an hour, then massage for 15-20 min and ice down for 10. I continue to do these exercises when I can at home just to keep it moving and loose. I REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF THESE CRUTCHES!!!
