How long in boot?

I am hoping to be in my walking boot on Dec.9th. Does anyone know how long you typically stay in the boot? I have been NWB since 10/14. Just wondering what the average boot time is?

Keep in mind, that some people are in the boot during part of their NWB time, while others don’t start using a boot until they are ready for PWB. Others start PWB while in a walking cast. So, “boot time” is highly variable. It’s probably better to ask about NWB, PWB, and FWB times. If you want to get a good idea of average/typical durations, there’s a bunch of info on the marathon stats:

I had Haglund’s/chronic tendinosis surgery 2 days ago. I was wondering if you had tingling in your leg a few days after? tuesday and yesterday was just pure pressure but today I’ve started to have some tingling and a few sharp pains here and there. I figure it’s my leg starting to reactivate considering I had a nerve block, but just wasn’t sure. Any insight you have would be great!
Thanks Ryanb, I will check out those other blogs.

Hi Laurent! That might be the nerve block wearing off, but it also could be nerves reconnecting. I think between weeks 1-2 is when I experienced the most tingling, burning, sharp stabbing pains. It does eventually get better. My Dr prescribed some Tylenol w/codeine to help me sleep since that’s when I experienced the most pain. It does get better!
Thanks tinat702! Right now walking seems like its light years away. I’ve been taking hydrocodone (whichi s tylenol with codeine) and it does help with sleep a little bit. I’m sure you can relate, but the dull heel pain is way worse then the achilles pain. I just keep using the idea of walking, climbing stairs, and eventually running again without pain as my motivation. Good luck in your recovery too!
