pic after 6 weeks in a cast
I thought for sure I could talk my way out of having another cast on, but I guess I’m not a very smooth talker. This is the third one! At least it’s only two more weeks until the boot. I have fantasies of how I’m going to destroy my crutches once this is over.
I noticed that I still have a lot of bruising & swelling. My heel is huge! How long before all that goes away?

Wicked looking scar! Did your doc say why they did an “S”? You must have done a real number on your ATR pushing your SUV! Keep that leg up & iced as much as possible! I’ve heard frozen peas or corn behind the knee and at the toes help out a lot. I didn’t out about that until I was out of my cast. I did however do a lot of toe wiggling and foot circles (as much as the cast would allow) and that helped “pump” out some of that swelling. Good luck! Did you find out why they wanted to put you in a whole leg cast originally? yech! Half cast was bad enough!

I have a VERY conservative doctor. He put me in a full cast for “maximum stablization.” I don’t know why he did an “S” shape for the incision. I was also told that he put some sort of mesh thingy in there to help the healing process. Bad thing to be given a shot of Demerol & then told how your surgery will be preformed! Thanks for all the helpful hints to recover faster!

Wow, that’s a scar! Tell people you were attacked by piranhas (that’s what I’m doing!).
By the way, I too ruptured my AT by pushing my truck (Dodge Ram 1500) so welcome to the small, but elite club!
