Don’t push the car with your husband in it!!!!
Ruptured 9/25/2008. I had my surgery on 9/28. The surgeon told me that he did an incision that started below the inside bone of the ankle around to where the Achilles is(about 4 to 5 inches). He said it would almost look like an “S” shape. Am I the only one out there in a full leg cast???? I go back in one week (total of 3 weeks in full leg cast) and will hopefully get a half cast. I’m hurting all over with this monster on. I’m active…not an overly active person. I’m 40 with 4 kids…did he do the full leg cast to let me be QUEEN? If so, I’m feeling more like a prisioner of the couch!

tearsaw - Sorry to have to welcome you to the site.
yeah, most people that I’ve seen get the half leg cast.. You may want to ask the doctor why.. he probably does have a good reason. Did you really injure yourself pushing a car with your husband in it?

I really did it pushing a SUV. A Nissan Pathfinder to be correct. It’s been sitting in our backyard with a dead battery. My husband never moves fast enough for me:} I did move it! Only about two feet before I heard the snap….but I did move it!

I have a friend who also had a full cast, different doctors have different ideas. My surgeons understudy wanted to put me in a full cast for a week before the operated but when the took me to the plaster cast room the guys in there did not like the idea so they went back to the surgeon himself. He said only half cast below the knee.
I can’t believe the understudy said full…………! and they are supposed to work together.

What’s worse is that I’m to be in a half cast for almost 9 weeks alone. Every three weeks my foot will be put into a different position “in order to stretch the tendon”. My healing time isn’t going to match up with everybody on here! I’m to be NWB in each cast! Total cast time alone total including the full will be12 weeks! ARGH!
