5 weeks post OP in shoes yeahhhhh :-)
hiya everyone
its only seems 2 mins since i first came on this site thinking the worst long road to recovery.
im now 5 week post op i was in shoes 4 week 5days and driving was scarey at first but supprised how good it felt my foot felt so much comfy in a shoe and ROM was very good maybe this was a sign i was ready to move into shoes. i feel so much better ive my freedom back with driving and being self employed im so happy ive got my business back on track too becasue no sick pay for me 
im seeing the surgeon next week not seen him for 4 weeks so hopefully he will be happy with the progress hes trying to get CAM boots into the NHS as he advised me to buy mine it cost £130 but he was right i believe this boot has speeded my recovery up fantastic plus with taking it off you can jump in the bath hehe.
my next goal is exercise so im going to ask the surgoen if i can go back to the gym on the exercise bike and maybe spinning class but just steady.
one concern i have is before this injury i never even felt my tendons but now i can feel my good leg tendon is this normal becasue its taken so much weight and wear on its own? im worried this will rupture down the line too ??

Hi Taraw,
snapped my tendon 2wks ago,having pot off tues. Good advice abt cam boot will enquire. stationary bike got to be good, cant wait to start rehab as dis is sending me crazy. I dont need to tell u dat! good luck and a quick recovery. best wishes sean

happy heeling think first 2 weeks was hardest for me alot of pain 1 st week but was more so due to the cast being set wrong it was too pointed and bent in my foot dont even move to that position normal lol
yes i would really advise on the CAM boot its been brilliant if you dont get it through your hospital ill send you link of site i bought it off it came next day too

Don’t forget to keep Watching Your Step, Tara, because you’re still very vulnerable to re-injury. Love the progress and the liberty, for sure, but keep fearing bad outcomes, too, to stay safe.
I find this page’s “theme” (sumenep 1.0) unusually hard to read, with comments appearing in light grey on white. It’s stylish, but. . .
And yes, boots are WAY better than casts, and it’s embarrassing to a lot of people (including fans of public medicine) and unfair to ATR patients, that the NHS is still casting its post-op and non-op patients. Glad you found a surgeon who’s trying to bring the NHS into the late 20th century, at last!
Stationary bikes should be safe, esp. if you remember that you can shift your foot position on the pedal to limit the force on your AT and calf. Pedal under the heel, you’re as safe as in a boot; pedal near the toes you’re “pushing” it; in-between is in-between.
