Progress is good :-)
Well, I’ve just had my 2nd "lower limb rehabilitation" exercise class. I’m having one of these classes per week for a total of 6 weeks courtesy of the NHS. It’s amazing how much some of the simple exercises hurt but the good news is that last week I was introduced to the exercise bike and told that I could try a real one again as long as I stuck to the flat and avoided hills… I did and it was great to cycle again even if only for a few miles.
I’ve been walking as much as possible and the limp has mostly disappeared - at least it has most of the time. I still have days where it just doesn’t want to play ball, but thankfully not too many. I do find that my ankle still swells hugely during the course of a day but elevation in the evening seems to help it return to roughly normal size.
Oh - I accidentally tried to run at the weekend (I forgot I couldn’t!). I took a pace with my good foot and nearly fell over when the bad one took over. Oops! Thankfully no damage done, it will be a while before I try that one again.
My next big target is to try driving my 40 year old car. It requires much more leg effort than a modern car so I’ve been more cautious about trying it but I need to drive it soon, it’s car show season and I’ve already missed too many.

Stalledminidriver,
At least I have some time to decide whether I want it in red or black. Looking forward to going to Mopar shows with it.
Finally got to drive around a bit this week. My plan is to put another 5,000 miles on my current car then trade it in for a 370 HP Dodge Charger. Pure Detroit muscle.
What is your 40 year-old car? With your screen name, am I correct in assuming it is an original Mini Cooper?
Dodge Charger? That sounds great! I love the look and sound of that car but I couldn’t afford the fuel for that over here! It’s the equivalent of $7.30 a Gallon for gas in the UK…
Yes, It’s a classic mini. It didn’t start out as a cooper but it is now more powerful and with better brakes than the original, not to mention a somewhat louder exhaust. It still looks like a standard ‘old’ car but doesn’t quite sound or go like it. Just the way I like it
I almost hate to do this to you guys… but here’s a picture of my baby:

It’s an ‘07 Hemi Police Interceptor. I bought it at auction about a year ago, with only 26K miles on it. It’s funny how different the driving experience is in it (I never get cut-off or tail-gated). And yes… it’s VERY fast
stalledminidriver,
I used to go to a lot of sports car races in my late teens/early 20’s and there was a class just devoted to mini’s. It was a lot of fun watching about 20 or 30 of them all trying to squeeze through the first turn going around it on 2 wheels.

Your black Charger does look bad ass. At first I was leaning to black but I saw a red one on the street over the weekend and really liked it too. Now seeing yours, I’m leaning back to black. BTW No need to hate showing me that picture. Here is a picture of my current everyday car next to my other car: http://www.cyber-com-inc.com/vetteprix.jpg And as you may notice, I am a huge Chicago White Sox fan.
I never get that kind of respect in my beloved 2008 Hyundai Elantra. But when I bicycle at night downtown with all 3 ultra-bright LED lights flashing (1 front, one rear, 1 helmet), I’m almost embarrassed by the way people jump — even cabbies and truck drivers!
