One week post op

Hello everyone,

Well its been one week and a day since my surgery.  Not in to much pain. Just trying to get used to the annoying feeling of the cast.  Two more weeks in this one.  All seems to be going well nothing new to report i guess. Getting used to doing everything on crutches.  I have my 3 week post op apointment on Sept 14th 2009. Cant wait to get this cast off if even for just a few minutes.  I know i have another one coming that day and will be on for another 3 weeks but if i can even get 20 min of cast freedom i will be so so so happy.  Hope all is well with everyone. please take care. More posts to come.

Funny how different docs treat this thing. I was in a half cast for a week and then straight into the boot. That’s nice, as you can take the boot off for showers, to wiggle the tootsies, and do basic ROM exercises.

    Hang in there man!

It is funny how they do treat this so different. Not exactly sure how yours tore but mine was a distal tear which came off the heel bone and had to use anchors to reatatach it so maybe its different depending on the type of tear and procedures used to repair it. May also have to do with how long in between the injury and surgery as well due to the tendon shrinking and becoming tighter and harder to reattach. Hope your recovery goes well too. Im hanging in here. Thanks for the post. Its good to hear form ppl in the same situation.

    yep lets do that…

i really had to push for 12 and twelve.. i had a partial tear (1cm) so maybe thats why the docs areprepared to be a little more aggresive..(?)

however i’m prepared for them to change their minds and say no!

i feel the sooner i can PWB and get back to work the happier i will be…

I know what you mean about getting back to work. I’m in a tough situation myself. I work construction so there is no work for me till i can get back to FWB and maybe more. I’m trying to find a desk job or something like that just to pay the bills. Even this would make me happy to feel like I can be of use again. Of course with the economy here the way it is its hard to find any job at all. I wish you luck and hope the doc doesn’t change their minds.

jeez.. work! i’m leaving that to the staff.. i have fashion stores in Barcelona and am also about to open a bar… luckily i can do most of my work sitting down,, but i really need to stay fit.

its gonna take a while before you can FWB… maybe time to research alternative jobs? will you get welfare? here in spain the gov give us 600 euros a month if we are ill.. not much but will pay for something.

you never know mate maybe you end up with a change of career?

    keep your leg up!

I’m working on trying to get some assistance form my state or the government. I may be able to get up to 200 a week form the state if i qualify, But here in the U.S. our systems are so messed up in my opinion I’m the guy stuck right in the middle of having made too much and them thinking i don’t need help. Sadly ppl that don’t need it an use the system make it hard for those of us who really do need some help once in a while. Social Security here only pays when its a year or more of disability. Sounds like this will be more of a 6 month thing which is long enough. In my case working construction it may be more of a year thing in my opinion. Cant rush this and injure it again so i may talk to my doctor on the 14th and see if he will sign the papers to help me get it. Its all a tough road to figure out for me right now. Things will work out. Keepin my let up!
