15 Weeks & I’m Going Fishing

So far I’ve been blessed with a really good recovery. My PT guy told me that he’s got me doing exercises that “normal” people do at 18 weeks. Well- I’ve never been accused of being normal so why start now.

For the next two days I get to bounce around on Lake Erie fishing. I’ve done ths trip every year for 12 years and I’m not going to let a little thing like a recently repaired Achilles tendon stop me from fishing. I will wear my walking boot as protection when I’m on the water.

Sounds like you are taking the necessary precautions and at 15weeks I feel certain you’ve earned that vacation.

Catch some big fish!!

Enjoy it and let us know how it all went :)

Have fun, Scott! So glad you get to make your trip!!

Good for you Scott, I think at 15 weeks and wearing the boot you should be fine.

It is important to keep up t he traditions where you can so go catch some fish for all of us

Scott:
I’ll be interested in how your trip goes. I was late to get my boat in the water this season and after a series of delays, I was about to take it out yesterday and then the weather looked like thunderstorms were on the way. I’m kinda anxious to find out how the AT is going to feel as the boat hits the waves. I’ve been in 2 shoes for about 12 weeks now and I’m reluctant to put the damn boot back on again.

Good luck catching some fish.

I wore the boot today but didn’t really need it because it was almost flat calm. I didn’t want to put it back on either but i just told myself that I don’t want to do this again.

The boot saved me today! We fished for 6 hours in a very strong winds that kicked up 7+ foot waves. Two or three times I lost my balance and took a quick step backwards with the ATR. Without the boot I’m sure that I would have done some damage.

Btw - we caught a lot of nice fish.

I can only imagine he battering the boat was getting and the need to rely on both legs for balance to stay upright - it’s probaly great physio too, but reading that I am glad you not only took but used the boot.

Always great when a fishing trip ends in a big catch :)

Congrats on the milestone Scott!! And this totally makes me want a boot for that occasionally added protection and safety net
