+4 degrees After PT :)

After 10 minutes on the elliptical machine, 90 seconds of straight leg stretches, 90 seconds of bent knee calf stretches, 50 step over/throughs, 30 double leg calf raises, 1 minute on the balance board, more calf stretches and another session on the balance board I went from 10 degrees of DF to 14 degrees. Wheee - not bad for my 2nd physical therapy session.

Keep it up. You’re giving me inspiration.

Good job, Scott!!! It’s hard work. Thankful God gave us amazing bodies & that HE places people in our lives at the right time who know how to get them to respond again.

Kris - you’re right. God did give us amazing bodies. It’s because we are made in his image. I’m going to be stronger after this injury in my faith, mind and body.

Awesome, Scott!! You know I’m envious!! Sounds like quite a strength workout, too!

7weeks post surgery and my doctor wants me in the pool. I have been walking in the pool and swimming some breast strokes without using my injured leg too much. Does anyone have ideas for what is helpful to do in the pool? Thanks.

Fantastic work Scott - hows does it now compare to the other foot?

@baezlyons - The thought of some sort of swimming is appealing, what scares the living daylights out of me (enough to rule it out actually) is the journey from changing room to pool and the associated wet slippy floor that I struggled on with two good legs…. but it looks like you are already doing all the right things, it;d be good to know if anyone else does additional stuff though.

Andrew - working out in the pool has been great for my ankle. When I was still in the boot I would walk to the edge of the pool and sit down. Then I would take off the boot and have a friend carry the boot away from the pool so it didn’t get splashed. Then she would bring it back when I was done. Now I wear flip flops. I’m at 16 weeks but I am still afraid of walking barefoot on that slippery concrete!

baezlyons - I found that if you go to the deep end and tread water it really helps with flexibility. I’m not sure why but it seemed that pushing against the water in two different directions (forward & back) put just a enough pressure on the ATR to stress it but not to the point of pain.

Heading out now to pool, Thanks for responding.

Andrew 1971. I got the idea to keep my boot on until my good leg is in the water from this blog and it worked well for me. I move very deliberately throught the health club and am hoping for the best
