DanO’s Achilles Problem

About Me

My name is DanO, and I’m a post-collegiate distance runner (and hopeful marathoner). Just a year out of college, I’ve been adding some good mileage to my training regiment and was awarded a waiver to run Boston in 2012 this year with a local team I run and compete with.

Unfortunately, about 4 weeks ago, deep into my training, I “ran” into an aggravation in my right Achilles and has since forced me off the roads. It’s been a tough recovery as the culprit to the injury was both overtraining and incorrect shoes. I have about a month until I toe the line at Boston and keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be fully healed by then and able to compete with the fitness level I’ve maintained through cross training. I’m using this blog to cope with my limitation and more importantly network and connect with sufferers of the dreaded Achilles tendinitis for resources and advice. I look forward to blogging and sharing my experience, learning, recovering, and later helping those with the same problem.
