Stitches out and back to work

Filed under: Uncategorized — shortseason at 4:25 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2009

The Injured One had his stitches removed yesterday and rec’d the go-ahead for easing back into work (4 hours a day).   I think going from reclining in an easy chair for weeks to dealing with the work environment was quite a leap (he’s snoozing in the easy chair with his leg elevated as I type).

The surgical site looks good according to the doc.  Next week is PWB — yay!  Scheduling the first PT appt is in the cards for this afternoon.

Progress!

Wow, he is going fast!
And, yes….it’s a leap!

It feels a bit like he went from 0 to 60 mph in a day. Work seems to be more difficult than I think he was anticipating — it seems to make him quite fatigued and a bit grumbly. I suppose it’s one thing to be home and feeling wimpy; quite another to be out in the real world, trying to accomplish tasks that were done without thought prior to the injury.

Start of whining:

This is starting to wear us both down — it’s supposed to get quite cold here tonight and I was just outside trying to remove the hoses from the outdoor faucets. I tried pliers, vise grips, struggling, wailing…they will not budge. I wanted to lay in the dirt and kick and scream!

End of whining:
