OK, well I’ve been quiet for a while, but your blogs have helped me immensely. I’m now over 7 weeks post-op and suddenly starting to walk (feebly) again. I must admit, this is such a huge improvement I should cry. I took myself fwb about 11 days ago, before my second post op doctor’s appointment. His main man nurse was a little surprised to see me without crutches, but I “walked” with an OK for 2 shoes and a pt rx. I was very happy.
Still “walked” ain’t too smooth or quick. As good as it is to ditch the crutches, I know I’m still 8 to 12 weeks from any hope close to full tendon strength, not to mention some seriously atrophied muscles. Pt is just getting rolling, I’m so glad to be officially doing something therapeutic for it, but I don’t think I stand too much chance of walking without a limp for something like 8 weeks. There is no quick fix for this, but at least it gets better. Faith and patience for all you atr patients.
