Just wondering at what point of recovery folks found themselves able to do any cardio training…and what kind of training did you do? I know its early days for me but I am concerned about weight gain….I am already carrying about 10kgs too many and really don’t want it to blow out. Any advice most gratefully received - thanks

Getting on the bike is really good for the rehab and I started that around week 5. Although the pace wasnt at cardio levels. Maybe week 10 or so I was able to start getting a workout from that. Your best bet might be swimming if you have access to a pool.
November 10, 2009 @ 3:42 pmhow about sit ups and girly-push up….
November 10, 2009 @ 7:03 pmI’ve been doing a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, stretching…..things along those lines. I’m 3.5 weeks post-op right now, but I started these exercises at the end of the first week. I agree with Joe……swimming would be fantastic, if you have access to a pool. Best wishes on your recovery! Ciao……Stroh
November 10, 2009 @ 7:22 pmthanks for the suggestions guys. I have been afraid to do sit ups and push ups etc because I am not quite sure how I am going to get up off the ground!!! I am sure there must be a way though, so will give it a go. There is a rehab pool 5 minutes from my house so I will become a fixture there once I get the go ahead from the doc!!! Thanks so much
November 10, 2009 @ 7:26 pmrutha - welcome to the site. To change the theme of your blog, click on Appearance->Themes . Then click on a Theme that you like, and it should sort of pop-up how your page will look. In that new window, on the upper right, you should see “Activate theme-name” in grey. Just click on that and it saves the information.
Yeah, it’s sort of hidden way.. but I hope it helps. I’ve chosen a theme for you that you can enable the ATR widgets. Feel free to change it.
Oh, to change the blog name, go to: Settings -> General
November 10, 2009 @ 8:05 pmYou are talking about the Blog Title right? I hope this helps.
find someplace to do a brisk walk with the crutches - I was surprised at how tiring it was.
November 10, 2009 @ 9:38 pmThanks a million for the ideas guys…Ultidad I couldn’t agree more, crutching is hard work. Dennis, thanks so much, I am more than happy with the theme!
November 12, 2009 @ 12:01 pmi was kind of worried about weight gain as well, so what i’ve been doing is keeping track of what i eat during the day, in some sort pseudo log book. but since my rupture i can honestly say that i have been eating a lot healthier. the gym i belong to also has one of these stationary hand bikes i’ve been using.
