Recovery Time and Rehab

Published by roxygal9 at 3:58 pm under Uncategorized

So I believe I still have at least 1 more month of NWB. In a cast and then get a boot in 2 weeks. Right after Christmas great! But doc said no walking still even with the boot. What does it feel like when you finally are able to put weight on it for the first time? Does it hurt real bad? What about rehab, what do I have to look forward to (sarcasm intended)….

When I was first able to put weight on my leg it was hard to do so because I had become accustomed to keeping my foot off the ground. I couldn’t relax and just let me foot rest on the ground. Once I got used to that it only took about a day to start shuffle my feet without my crutches. It didn’t hurt very much at all.

I agree, it doesn’t hurt too much, just make sure you take it easy once you get to that point. But being able to put a little weight down on that foot was amazing for me! It made getting around much much much less exhausting.

I advise making sure you have plenty of heel wedge in place before bearing weight - I didn’t have enough and it was quite a shock!

I had less pain in the boot than I thought I would have.
Now I didn’t rupture my achilles, mine got cut during surgery for bone removal and I was in a lot of pain before.
The boot bothered me more because of the weight.
