on two feet

I went to see my doctor yesterday and she said that I should be walking with out my crutches on my next visit, which is in two weeks. Currently I’m on my 7th week post-op. I am sooo tired of my crutches. I cant wait to get rid of them. I am sooo optimistic about her prediction that I’ve been aggressive with my pt. I’ve had dreams about walking  jumping and running under no restraint. This injury and recovery  has been a journey of self reliant and reflection, that I no longer take for granted walking on my own, two feet.

    Me too when I initially had the cast removed, but after a couple of weeks it’s a lot better.

    I too have the pain in my heel for the first couple of steps. Once I’m up and about it seems to go away.

    I started my pt on oct. 1st. I go twice a week.

    I am getting my boot off and will be able to drive as well. I must say I am a bet nervous but the freedom will be bliss!!

    Yeah. Congrats! I am also curious how far along are you in your recovery? Do you use your left foot to brake?

    Ramil:

    Try to walk downhill or on level ground as much as possible. Uphill walking places too much stress on the AT.

    Hi Ramil,

    Jon is so right about the last 10% dragging. I’m at 17 weeks post-op and am sooooo close to 90 degrees, but have been stuck at -11 degrees for the past 4 weeks…..But as you get more and more weight-bearing you will see different kinds of improvement, even if the ROM isn’t quite there. That’s what keeps me going and not giving up at ever getting my full ROM back. It will happen!!!

    thank you for responding, today was day 2 of PT. My range of motion seems to have gotten a little better. They applied a little pressure on my foot and it felt great. I know this is going to be a long process, but I’m looking forward to it.

    Hi Ramil,
    Yeah, you should regain full motion. It will loosen up quite quickly, but the last 10% seems to be when it drags.
