Rosemary, thank you for the update. Are you planning on just adding new days to the original post? It makes for interesting reading, even if the post will get very long soon.
I tried the take it apart and put it together a few times, specially because my boot did not offer extra liners, but it was never satisfactory. I suspect my foot was actually just complaining about overuse, and not that the boot had anything wrong with it. LOL

Rosemary, I totally agree with your observation: I am an active legally blind “golden age” almost 62 male, and many people cannot undestand why I am not on a couch watching TV all day.

Sadly, they are too young to have heard of the “boob tube” and the nefarious effects of too much media on the senses and the brain.
My recovery is semi-aggressive, having had 2 weeks NWB, and getting the boot on week 3, two shoes on week 9. I did exercises and toe movements even in the cast, knowing I am overweight and not athletic, and I think that helped.
The exercise and Physical therapy takes well over 45 min, and I try to do it every day.
As for the way we seniors are treated, I’m sure you know it can be even more tricky when impulsive well-meaning people think we “can’t” do a whole bunch of things …
But, wearing the boot I admit I loved all the help I got!

Hi Manny, I am 70 not 55 (unfortunately). When I was treated by a nurse in A & E they were only interested in my chronological age. A passing Registrar came in to see me. He knelt down beside my bed and said - “the good news is you haven’t torn your Achilles’ tendon completely, the bad news is you are 70″. The Registrar the next day said as I was so active he would mark the 55/active pathway for my treatment. If you are elderly and inactive you are not given an x-Ray or ultrasound scan.

I am sorry to hear about your injury. Did you tear your Achilles’ tendon totally and how does the treatment compare to mine. I hope you are making a good recovery. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi, Photographer! And your blog is already quite interesting since i remember my own situation ten weeks ago. I do have an impertinent question, though: are you a wise 70 or a 55 year old whipper-snapper? LOL
Honestly, you sound young at heart, and that’s the important age. I’m very glad the hospital called realizing the mistake. They probably saved you from real harm.
I’m just envying your dressing up with your boot… I was basically stuck with shorts, sports pants and the one pair of blue dress pants that fit over the boot!

Many thanks Kat I will remember that. I omitted to say I have put a large cushion at the end of my bed to elevate my leg at night. I will add it to the blog. Thank you for your comment.
