5 weeks post op

Well, I am continuing my transition from PWB to FWB. My goal was to completely lose the crutches by 6 weeks post op. I’m not so sure that I am gong to hit that goal though. I can move around with one crutch and I have taken baby steps briefly. I am not feeling much pain in my tendon, but my ankle feels like it is sprainied. When I put full weight on my leg, my ankle and heel feel so much pressure and pain. I am wondering if it is the angle that my foot is still at. I am hoping that this goes away when I remove the next wedge. Did anyone else have this problem?

Regardless, I am still making little improvements and I feel like I am able to do a bit more each day. My next appontment is in a week and I look forward to what ever the next step will be. Can’t believe it’s been 5 weeks already.

  1. Some people find it easier to walk with wedges removed, some the opposite. It isn’t just your calf that’s had a bunch of weeks “off”, it’s all the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves in your foot and leg. Also the “proprioception” circuits that are responsible for control and balance. Avoid pain, but keep working toward normal. . .

  2. I felt as having an ankle sprain at around week 5 post surgery, It went away after two weeks!
