Anyone else have difficulty getting comfortable and to sleep in bed with the cast on…?
Seems like I do better in a recliner/La-Z-Boy….
Watching 3rd baseball playoff game today, watched 3 yesterday…
I just want to get a decent few hours sleep…

Surgery last Friday (10/02)….got home Saturday afternoon.
All seems to have gone well. Not much pain, just some discomfort.
Went for posts op visit yesterday, took soft cast off and put a cast on.
Will go back a week from tomorrow for new cast and possibly to get
sutures out.
How do you put the Marathon Widget on your site?

Be at the hospital at 7:00 AM
Surgery scheduled for 9:00 AM
Doctor said he will keep me over night so that he can fill me with antibiotics for 24 hours via IV
Anything to prevent and infection is fine with me. Anesthesia will be general.
Hopefully will feel good enough to post something soon after surgery
See ya’ later…

It does not surprise me, but after measuring my left calf (the achilles I will have surgery on) is a full 1 1/4″ smaller than the good leg…
Is this from limping around and not being able to walk normally for the past years?
If it is that much smaller now, I wonder how much more it will atrophy after the surgery?

Have been in an air boot for the past month. Went to doctor in early July because I had pain in back of my left leg after jogging…lower down towards the upper heel. They did MRI and and said I have some tears in the Achilles and some other issues . Surgery will involve detachment of achilles, and some bone reshaping. Equivallent to ATR, but lower than where it normally ruptures (at least this is what I can understand). I have been reading all the post, as a lurker, and have gotten some really great info from here.
To be honest with you, I am kind of hesitant, but have decided that I cannot continue to function with the pain and the inability to do the things that I used to do. My biggest fear is the time right after the surgery and the lack of mobility….but all of you seem to have gotten past that, so I guess I will too.
I am a 60 year old male, active and athletic, and my problem is with the Achilles on my Left Foot.
Anyone else on here from South Louisiana?
