Surgery Day

I had a quick appointment with a physiotherapist while waiting at the hospital for the surgery.  I had the surgery two days after the injury.

The physiotherapist gave me the information about the recovery protocol.  I will get a special orthosis that will allow plantarflexion movement but restrict dorsiflexion.  The foot will not be allowed to lift above 90 degree.  My first recovery appointement is in two weeks.

The surgery went well (around 40 minutes).  I had a hard time to sleep the first night.  I took pain killer but I was still feeling light pain.  My scar was burning.

  2. I have been two weeks in a cast, this is my second one. At the time of the injury, playing in a squash tournament, i was rushed to the hospital where I was checked in and the surgery took place the following day. One and a half hours worth. I was surprised how painless the whole ordeal has been. My biggest downer is not being able to do anything at all, and being very worried about my calf muscle withering away and how long it is going to take to recover from this injury. Are there any exercise programs that I can do to help my calf muscle keep reasonably normal. massage or anything.
