5 weeks tomorrow, post surgery
I spoke to my Dr. Today as I was feeling low and felt that I was just sitting around doing nothing. So I asked if there was anything else I can do. He suggested sat massage! Does anyone have any helpful tips on this?
I have been working on my ROM and it is less than 0 degrees which I am happy with in this time frame.
I have been having my neurological muscle therapy about 4-5 times a week. I feel this has helped strengthen my muscles and slow down any loss due to no load bearing yet!
I sleep with my boot off and swim when I can. Also working my upper body at the gym. Fingers crossed when I go back to the Dr. In just under 3 weeks I will loose the crutches.
Any tips on he scar massage would be appreciated.

I am at 6 weeks post OP. Initially had a “Severe Pull” playing basketball in February. Tried conservative method, re-ruptured in Physical Therapy on one legged jumping exercise (last exercise to be discharged). Had the surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Vail with Dr. Clanton. FHL transfer because of the re-rupture. I am riding the stationary bike 30-45 minutes a day up to a level of 5 difficulty. I am weightlifting upper body hard, just need someone to get dumbbells off the rack for me, but I do not mind asking. Also doing machine quad raises, hamstring curls, hip abductor, and leg press with hurt leg with 50lbs. I need to be careful that the leg press does not move my foot at all, only the Quad should be working. I am also standing upright and doing calf rasies, but am very careful doing them. Tomorrow I go to 100lbs of pressure on the boot and will still have one crutch. A week from tomorrow I will be able to ditch the crutch. Then August 14th I got back to doc and they will take out first heel lift. Had surgery June 18th, got a cast on June 28th. They cut off the bottom part of the cast and I had to wrap it up in an ace bandage. This was cool because it allowed me to take the cast off 3 times a day and practice moving my foot up and down. Still getting used to the fact that I will not be able to bend my big toe again, but oh well, I am not sure how I am going to come back yet, so just gonna worry about taking it easy. I am with you on this bro, it sucks, just be glad you are not dealing with a re-rupture and be careful.
No worries - you’ll get there. I snapped mine kickboxing and went back the day after surgery. Stay involved, be smart but push it right to the edge but no farther. That edge will continue to get farther and farther away. Try this post of mine if you need a kick: http://achillesblog.com/skutr/2012/07/04/12-wks-i-cant-and-wont-quit/
