Taking those 1st few steps..

Maybe I am getting a head of myself.

I still have less than a week before I get the boot off.

Last night I took my 1st few steps without the boot. I will be honest, I was scared shit..

I was so apprehensive and walked so slow. There was no pain but it was stiff as heck.

With the boot on I am flying around. I actually mowed my front lawn with the boot on.

So tell me friends what can I expect those 1st few day when I start to walk with two shoes?

Is it painful?
Do I need to be careful or just try to walk as normal as possible?

You shouldn’t have any pain in the achilles, it’s been 10 weeks post op the tendon is almost fully healed. If you do consult with your doctor. Be very careful on uneven ground and on stairs.

    LMAO!! Oline,

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I had that feeling with my full weight bearing walking cast I received at 5 weeks. Now, as for walking barefoot with out the removable boot. Yes, I walked around the house with out it. I was very careful. First time in the shower I was stressing. I wore the boot for two weeks before I was back in two shoes. What a pain in the ass this has been. Oh yea, I just past 8 months Post OP. Going well.

    Good luck to you

    One more thing…..

Getting back in two shoes was fine for me. You will favor your involved foot for a little while. It’s a matter of getting the strength back. I had a limp for a few weeks. Today I can do a slow run. Jog if you will. I’m still very careful. Would NOT want to go through that again.

    Good Luck

    Glen
