Wedge Free! week 10
August 12, 2014 by nosport45
Following a great trip to France (thanks for flying tips guys) I removed the last wedge last Thursday. Took advice about removing it before bed so foot adjusted during the night, before weight bearing. Felt a bit tight and now have ache/pain in the bottom of my heel, which I haven’t really had as yet. Anyone else experienced that? Needed crutch for day or so but back to FWB.
Have been doing some very gentle rom type exercises and tried heel raise while sitting. Not sure what I’m doing really. Hospital has said stay in boot with no physio yet but am trying to do something because I don’t want to be too stiff when it comes off. Can’t imagine that I will ever be able to put weight on foot without boot
I thought the aches and pain were from me being off my foot for so long, turned out to be the boot. Try pushing your foot as far back onto the boot as you can. I noticed as I walked my foot would slide forward a bit and pains would return. Glad to hear your flat footed now. Soon two shoes. Then happy days!!!!
Thanks Joey. Will try that. Tried standing without boot. Was ok but AT feels really tight, can’t imagine that its going to stretch enough for taking a step! Suppose we’ll see in two weeks time.
Yeah, I thought by 13 weeks I wouldn’t be stiff but I was wrong. Still have to do your stretching exercises
I also had pain in my heel for a week before I saw my PT. I asked her about it and she said it was most likely mild plantar fasciitis. She recommended that I freeze a bottle of water, and gently rub my heel back and forth on the frozen bottle of water once a day for a week. I did it and the pain went away completely. I haven’t had any issues with it since then. Hope that helps!
Thanks badtimingjoe. I will defy try that. Can’t believe that I got this far with mostly little pain every now and again, then I start getting pain most of day..and in my heel! Not Achilles ! Will let you know if it does the trick.
