Hello world!

March 28th, 2009

Having spent a lot of time reading other peoples experiences of ATR in the last month,  today I decided to add my own!! I hope you enjoy reading this as much I did reading others. I’m hoping that as well as giving me something to do while I’m off work, it will help me to see the journey of my recovery in the longer term.

I ruptured my achilles on 24th February and am following the conservative management protocol, which so far seems to be ok.

    Hi Nikki,

Glad you find this site helpful, I am just over a year since my achilles operation but I still check in now and then and even have a few ‘off blog’ buddies I keep in contact with. We are all so glad Dennis set up this site as it is so helpful.

I was the first patient in a brand new NHS Walk in Centre in Manchester but my opinion is very different from yours, I was told I had ruptured my achilles but told just to ice it for 2 weeks then heat treatment for 2 weeks. Eventually after second opinion I was operated on a few weeks later.

There have been quite a few conservative patients on the site so your not alone.

Anyway, good luck, and never be afraid to ask a question, someone will have the answer for you.

    Keep smiling!!
