Now four weeks post op, in the Aircast boot, seeing the physio every 5/6 days. Range of movement in the ankle is good.
Some build up of fluid on the outside of foot, so massage regularly to remove that.
Can walk reasonable distances in the boot without any discomfort. Still finding it hard to sleep all night [...]

My rehabilitation protocol, well not really mine, consultant’s protocol for me:
2 – 8 Weeks Post Operatively – Start physiotherapy. Boot can be removed for physiotherapy, when seated, for bathing, but when off, no weight through foot. At all other times boot remains on, including sleeping :(.

Consultant happy with progress, plaster and stitches removed and leg placed in Aircast® AirSelect boot with 3 x heel wedge inserts fitted.
Able to start full weight-bearing, as much weight as comfortable.
Have also found a local physio, so off to see her tomorrow.
Now able to drive again, luckily I have S tronic transmission, so no left foot [...]

Have been very careful with crutches to date, and obeyed the non weight bearing at all times instruction from consultant.
Coming down stairs this morning, probably a little sleepy and left crutch slips off stair and instinctively I put my left foot down. As well as crushing my toes, severe pain in my achilles. Pain subsides [...]

Still in plaster, hopping around on crutches. Days spent lying on sofa or in bed. Realised that despite having hundreds of TV channels available, there really isn’t much to watch!
Stopped taking the diclophenac and tramadol on day 3 post op as they didn’t agree with me. Now just paracetamol 3 x per day.
