Try Fleet Feet, they can really help to put you in the right shoes.
I have some great Mizunos and others have mentioned Asics as a good buy. Worth trying a few different pairs of good running shoes and see what is comfortable…
My Nike Air Tailwind shoes work pretty well. Heel is a bit high and the cushioning is great.
I just had an open re-rupture one week ago tonight. I had just finished week 8 of my rehab and was starting to do some FWB. My leg blew wide open and I had probably a 2 inch diamond shaped hole. It was not pleasant and I’m back on the couch. My approach to recovery will be much slower and conservative this time around.

WOW! I am sorry that you got re-injured so soon. Please take it easy this time around with your recovery and don’t be BAD!!! Norm was spot on asking that. Time and patience, time and patience, tiem and patience! Keep us posted on your recovery 2.0.
Sorry to read this, mrshea. It seems you rerupture it two months after surgery and I just passed that. It is scary… how do you rerupture it? Btw, when I ruptured mine, I was also in my best fit for 15 years.
What haopened to cause such a re-rupture?

Re-rupture was/is my biggest fear. 9 months later, I don’t want to ever go through that again, not so much for pain but for the darn inconvenience of the whole process. I was so ‘good’ except for totalling my car 9 weeks post surgery. Even now, I think of it almost every day. My thoughts are with you in your recovery. Take it slow and do isometrics for other muscles if possible.

KJ, I think an open re-rupture is a post-op re-rupture that opens the wound, sometimes revealing much more than the patient wants to see.
Mrshea, it’s sad and ironic that ATRs can easily happen to athletes who are in top form. Our tendons are SUPPOSED to strengthen fast enough to stay stronger than the muscles that pull on them, or we’d be constantly disabled. Obviously, that system sometimes fails, most often with ATRs.
I too am curious about how you blew up your healing AT. Were you “bad”?
