Unexpected running shock!

On our way out to a party last night, we parked up at the local shops and as I was walking across to the off licence for a bottle of wine the heavens opened, I instinctively picked up the hem of my maxi dress, put my handbag over my head and ran!! About 6 steps until I realised what I was doing and intantly froze.  No harm apparently done, I must confess to the physio on Tuesday, another door has apprently opened :-)

  1. Funny story- I guess someone upstairs thought you were ready.

  2. Woo Hoo! No reason to confess, you were ready! Am I correct, since you were wearing a maxi dress, then you must have had party shoes on? So not only did you run, you ran in non athletic shoes.

    Double congrats!

  3. Wow, something similar happen to me this weekend. I am 9 weeks out and I am a very active person. I was getting somehing out of my truck and the last piece I had to remove was in the back of the truck. So, I “JUMPED” up on my truck and I instantly thought about my weak achilles. But, I doubt if I am going to tell the doctor, I see him on tomorrow.

You are stronger that you think you are.

  4. Careful there Soldier j, jumping definately a No NO at 9 weeks.(hope you can see my wagging finger)
Superjewgrl party shoes defined by being colourful with a sling back, but a sensible1 inch heel
Brokendad - guess you’re right, I must be ready :-)
What was even funnier was that once i froze, I looked around to see if anyone had noticed , think I was expecting a round of applause or an audience frowning and sharply drawing breath in disapproval.

  5. Micah! A maxi dress? Who knew you were such a trendinista?! Great story. I can’t wait to have one of those of my own. I had the misfortune of trying to jump to reach the toilet paper that some hooligans had “decorated” our front yard with (while we slept.) Curse them! I didn’t get any air–much to my dismay :( Oh well. Congrats on your success!

Rant: Seriously people, don’t let your kids TP houses. It’s so last decade. Ugh. Thank goodness the sprinklers didn’t go off!

  6. Confessed to physio about accidental running and she said No! No! No! (Amy Winehouse style). Too early apparently. Had a good gym session, have to work on getting higher on my tip toes and more control on the lowering of the heel. Also to add weights when doing lunges.
Kelly, I hope you were concentrating on balance and stretches when clearing your yard, that’s a trick I hope fails to catch on over here.

  7. I took my first running steps early, while jay-walking across a busy intersection. (I think I was going from the subway to my PT!) I bet lots of us do, or did, or will do, similar things without harm.
