I haven't had too many tingles in my foot when I put weight on it. Maybe a little, but that is too be expected as your seral nerve can be aggravated a bit during the operation. It does takes a while to heal. It definitely took some work to get my foot up to 90 degrees. I had to warm it up pretty good over the course of 15 minutes or so, and then hold it at that position while the cast was put on. It felt tight and pretty sore the rest of that day and a little the next day, but it totally subsided soon enough. I actually just got home from the gym after doing about 5 minutes on the revolving stair climber. It felt pretty good, but a little awkward, and probably not the safest thing in the world. It feels a little sore now, but now that it is elevated, it already fees better.

Michael, did you get the weird tingles in your foot when you put it down and put weight on it? I noticed that when I did...strange sensation. I am not sure how degrees mine can go yet, but I don't think anywhere near 90. I feel extreme tightness too when I stretch my foot up. So since you are in a cast, did the tightness subside?

mhildy--we are about in the same time frame, as I had my surgery on 11.18 and got my staples out on 11.25. I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WOULD BE STAPLES. Lol...that just kind of freaked me out. I don't have a cast or anything, just a splint that goes from my toes to my high shin, and only on the top...nothing in back. There seems to be risk of me smacking the newly repaired Achilles on something, but oh well. The good news is I can shower with nothing at all on the foot, the bad news is showering (and general mobility) is limited more now with no cast at all as I can't use the foot for as much bracing/balance, particularly in said showers! I am on the 10 day plan though too, with a reevaluation there and possible CAM boot at that time. I am also expected to exercise plantar flexion as much as possible and the other way (can't remember what that is called) too, just not "too" far up. It feels good to move it.

Anway congrats on your progess!

mhildy - glad that you've figured out how to add the image. Looks like your marathon tracker isn't working right though. This has to do with the theme you are using. I'll have to make some code changes to get it to display the red circle right for this particular theme.. Give me a few days. :)

Hi Dee,

Yeah, I am stoked about how the incision looks. I'm immobilized for another three weeks or so, so no rehab until then. In the mean time though, I am going to do everything I can for the rest of my body. No use letting the whole system waste away.

As for posting the pic, I actually was going to ask you some advice on getting a gallery up. Maybe Dennis could help us out. To post an image in your next, there is a little icon above where you are typing that allows you to insert an image. It's a little convoluted though. I think I did it the hard way. I have some more good pics, I just someone to let me know how to get up a thumbnail gallery.

Thanks again Dee.

Oh my gosh! Your incision looks great! Mine looks absolutely horrible! I tooK some pics of it but with my phone which I haven't downloaded yet, but I will so you can see how crooked mine is and I have a large bruise on the side of my foot too. Mine looks to be the same length as yours I just got the cast removed & stitches cut out this last Friday. I've been given a boot where I can put some weight on it but not all. Wow! I'm still shocked at how good your foot looks. I'll be back in a few minutes w/the pic of mine. I would also be interested in what your doctor gives you for the exercise stuff. I'm really bored of crunches & other floor exercises. Well anyway have a safe trip & have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanks for the comments everyone. It is so nice to know that I can share this experience with people going through this at the same time. I look forward to chatting with everybody as our recovery unfolds. Good luck and happy healing!

Thanks for that Doc Ross, although I could've done with knowing that surgical/non-surgical advice on 25th July.

I think I'm even more nervous about re-rupture than before.

Like you Michael I was given the wrong advice and walked for nearly 3 weeks before I sought second opinion, as soon as I did I was operated on the next day, I had a complete tear, doctor didn't know how I had managed to walk at all, let alone for 3 weeks.

I was originally told by NHS Direct (in England) that had I had a rupture but all I needed to do was just to ice it for 2 weeks then to put hot wheat bags on it for 2 more weeks!!!

I only wish I had done it sooner. I am glad you followed your own commonsense and consulted another doctor.

Good luck with your progress
