what a difference a week makes!

I swear my computer hates this site!!!

So anyway- I have progressed to walking in the boot without crutches, started pulling out my self made wedges one by one (btw a plantar fasciitis insole works great in a fixed 90 boot)

Dr visit next Friday and we get to talk about physical therapy.  I’m finding I’m having to fight the workman’s comp company about “unnecessary” charges- like the bill for the anesthesiologist!

I’m sure they are going to love the bill for PT as well!!!

lol

Anyone have advice on something like an ankle brace that I could wear once I graduate from the boot?  With my job I’m not all that confident I should be without anything right away- a gym full of hyper 5 & 6 year olds could lead to trouble!

Most people — and most successful studies — go without and Watch Their Step. Some people enjoy compression socks or sleeves (mostly to control swelling), and others get relief or confidence from various support appliances — braces and such. Up to you.

Norm- I realized part of my post cut off- the only reason I’m worried is that I’m a Phys Ed teacher- if a child has a ball go awry or something I don’t want to end up back at square one,

If you return to the job while still in the boot, it may be easiest and safest to stay in it during classes until you’re confident enough to teach in 2 shoes. My impression of most add-on supports that would fit into running shoes, is that they’d give you more comfort and confidence than real protection. Confidence is a double-edged sword here. . .

I’d agree with the boot. Even when I got to 2 shoes I still wore the boot in “hostile” environments - kid’s baseball games, rough terrain, boating, fishing etc….most of the braces I looked at seemed more geared toward the rolling of an ankle type movement (sideways) but didn’t see to much that went front/back. I saw a sock with a pad that went up from the heel to cover the achilles, but that was about it. If you find one, let us know.
