To catch everyone up……
So it seems everytime I try to post it disappears! So a quick recap of the last 3 weeks-
9/20 Cast changed OK’d to go back to work
9/23 first day back at work
9/25- Grrrr…… I woke up at 2 AM with cramping and blood. I knew it was a miscarriage- nothing anyone could do at that point and since going to the hospital would mean a)waking my son and taking him with us to the ER or b) finding someone to come over to stay with him. I called my OB at 8 am and we went in right away. Embryo was already gone- lots of blood work and shots (I’m RH-, Hubby is RH+)
9/30 start back to work
Today- 2nd post-op appointment cast came off and Doctor seemed pleased with how it is healing. I brought up Physical Therapy and he said we’d talk more about it in 3 weeks…. :(
So for right now I’m PWB “as tolerated”
On a side note chiropractic is amazing- I’m so glad I can afford to go again!!!
So sorry to hear of your miscarriage. Glad your cast is off. Glad to hear that you got your cast off and that your chiropractic is good and that you are going again. Sending healing thoughts.
Such sad news. Hope you are ok.
All good wishes from your new pals here.
Miscarriage seems to be one of the most “private” or un-discussed human-medical problems, much more common than it seems from public discussions. For generations (and maybe still today), couples would refrain from telling their friends that they were expecting, for fear of having to tell them about a miscarriage. Obviously, different people will respond differently to that event, but it’s hard to believe that dealing with it alone, or as a private couple, works best.
So sorry about the news, hope yourself and your family are doing ok. I am 6 weeks post surgery and am still NWB and in a boot and crutches. I am only allowed to PWB 10/20% of my weight starting next week - my patience is waning too but im sure the surgeon knows what he is talking about! Good luck at the next appointment!
After minimal PWB the last 2 1/2 days I’m having a lot of swelling, and I don’t know if this is normal or not- pain in what’s left of my calf? the Achilles and foot have discomfort, but the pain in my calf can be pretty bad. Think I’m going to plan on using the scooter at work still. I don’t think I could do a whole day on crutches at this point anyway. Not the best thing when you have a job that has you up and moving from 8:00AM- 3:00pm
Thank you all for your well wishes- I’m looking at the positives- I’ll be able to go full speed into therapy once I’m able to start. I was kind of worried how the pregnancy hormones would effect the AT during therapy anyway, since they relax your tendons/ligaments
I have found that since I have been in 2 shoes and doing reasonable pt, that I have a load of swelling at the end of the day. It settles overnight. But also that my rupture site has thickened loads in a short time. I think there is still a load of remodelling and adaptation to becoming a strong tendon. This all causes swelling which I anticipate will settle overtime.
I am assuming that you have been checked for a dvt?
