5 Month Check-up

Columbus,OH-It has been awhile for me posting any update, so here it goes. My achilles tendon is doing fantastic. It is still tight in the morning and needs to be stretched daily. I have started to jog on the treadmill, and what a strange feeling at first. I have upped my mileage to two miles every other day. I started jogging with one minute jogging and one minute walking and worked my way up..Go SLOW at first. My calf is still way smaller then my other one. I lift legs twice a week now instead of just once like before. I have zero limp when I walk and other then the just weakness of not having built up my muscle on the calf, it feels great other then that. Barely able to get off the floor with a one-legged calf raise, but getting better everyday. It takes a long time to heal, so be prepared for ever bit of a year before your tendon is 100% again..My tendon feels like maybe 80-85% healed right now and most days, I feel 100%..

Matty did you watch that USC debacle?? Yikes! Start Prior please..the other dude is garbage.

Youre progressing well..I did the leg sled today for the 1st time and the AT felt suprisingly good..youre right about it taking forever to be back to ‘normal’, had a 36 hole event yesterday and played ok the 1st 18 holes then ran out of gas the 2nd 18…I am still having trouble firing my right side, just not much there, ya know?

Are you still w the therapist?

Oh and I blew off my last post-op appointment..its 80 miles to Boston and I just didnt feel like going all the way up there for him to look at my leg for 10 seconds and say ok, see you later, keep stretching.

Yes, the Buckeyes are terrible..They don’t deserve to be against top notch teams from the West Coast and the SEC and I am a die hard fan. Tressel will not bench Todd Boekman for some damn reason. I agree with you, his mobility reminds me of Bernie Kosar and he moved like a robot.

Sounds like you are doing well also Walshie.. I went out golfing and just smoking my drive but don’t worry, my putter was terrible. I see that Boston College beat up on my alma matter Kent State in week 1, but I have my boy Ben Curtis at the Ryder Cup, hopefully he doesn’t fold like a deck of cards.

Yes, I am still with the therapist but don’t know where that is going. You know once they start giving ultimatiums and timelines, this guy is outty 500(Out of there)..

The AT is still tight and needs to be stretched out daily, but I am so used to it now, it is like everyday life..Jogging feels great but weak and sore the next day..I don’t blame you for not driving to Boston, just for him to say keep stretching..I think once you hit 3-4 months there isn’t really much you can do except wait for that one year mark when everything is A-ok..Take Care Walshie!
