Hello all,
OK, so my leg was cleaned out of all the stitches, and it appears that this 8 month saga is finally over. I need to regain a lot of strength, but I am done! Is there a charity where I can donate my inflatable boot? With any luck, I will never need it again!
Good luck all.

So I had follow up surgery after 7 months where the doc went in again and cleaned out the stitches and scar tissue, etc. Now I have stitches that come out this week. After the stitches are gone, can I exercise, or do I need to wait for it to become unswollen, etc? Will there still be infection issues?

The wound has refused to close after 7 months and the anti biotics did not manage to close the wound all the way, so they need to go BACK in, and clean out all the stitches that are apparently not dissolvable. Let’s hope they get it right this time…

I was supposed to get another surgery to clean out my infections, but it turns out that Avelox and another couple of anti-biotics seem to be doing the trick. I have 2 wounds that spit out sutures every now and then but they seem to be finally closing, so please wish the best for me, and my best goes out to all!

Hi all,
Since I had the surgery done, there was a small scabbed over wound that never closed. Eventually another cyst popped out, and eventually spit out some stitches. I thought that would help, and have been on numerous anti-biotics, but my ortho thinks that my body is allergic to all the stitches and that he needs to go in and take them all out.
I am seeing a wound specialist tomorrow to see if he has any idea, but also looking for any advice on this site.
Is there any way out of this nightmare? I really do not want him to go in again.

Hi, My leg has 2 infections/tiny wounds that still have not healed. Infection doctor moved me from Cipro to Rifampin and Avelox, but no improvement after a week.
Some of the stitches have suddenly started coming out. My Ortho said that was good and that I should just pull them taut and cut them out. I have no limp or anything, just these 2 wounds. The Ortho says that he might have to go in again to take out all the sutures. Why is this happening 6 months later, and why is the whole leg not inflamed? Does the doc really need to go in again?
Thoughts?

Hi all,This weird bump appeared right on the side of my scar that is extremely stiff and making me limp. It is swollen in a perfect circle, like a bee sting, but is deep. Of course all docs are off today, but my surgeon thinks that one of the sutures might be trying to come out and suggests a heating pad. I have actually been trying to ice it. Any thoughts, suggestions, etc? I just do NOT want him to go in again

So, I had hoped as an active 36 y/o that PT would progress nicely, but it is truly a marathon. My therapist is concerned because I am really only using my lower calf muscle to move, and it is very sore. We tried some electrode magic to see if that can stimulate the upper muscle to life, but no luck yet.
Wound is still slightly open, but growing granular tissue, which apparently is a good sign.
Welcome all thoughts.
Thanks!

So, after a long wait, I finally started rehab, and slowly regaining strength, but the scab on the wound does not close. One doctor said that the skin there was very thin and is constantly being creased, but is this something I should be concerned about?

Hi all, the surgical slit is still scabbed over and a bit black and blue around the edges. Does this mean that I should not ditch the boot yet? Any feedback would be great!
Thanks,
Matt
