First run!

Hi everyone,

Over this last week I have been experiencing some nice changes, a week ago I started doing unassisted heel raises, I can do 6, but I can only reach 20 degrees above the ground. I am getting there I think. Today I was able to run my first mile, I did it in 14 minutes, I guess you could call it jogging. One thing that I am still struggling with is my ROM, I hope this gets better. Other than that the achilles is healing pretty well, no more limpimg while walking, I can walk on my toes while carrying weights, I hope I can be back to light soccer by August.

    When did you hurt it. I tore mine playing soccer and am two weeks out of the boot. It was a complete tear. Still getting used to walking but getting better. It is swollen near the heal but gets better when I raise it.

    I had the injury on April 3 and had surgery on April 8. I did it while playing soccer. On that occasion I was sprinting with my left foot while leading the ball with the right foot (I am left footed), unfortunately I had this mechanical error where my left foot did not leave the ground while my calf and other muscle were pulling forward, and then the infamous POP on the left leg.
    How did you do yours? Are you planning to return to that wonderful sport?
    Mine still gets swollen especially after exercise, Ice helps a lot with it.
