Day 2 -Post surgery

I gave Ethan pain meds last night around 9pm, mainly just to make sure he slept comfortably and he sure did.  He did not have a problem sleeping once he drifted off. No pain meds today!!  He says they don’t hurt, but he is so ready for the casts to be off.  We are keeping ice packs on the casts to help with the swelling.  If the ice packs stays on the casts long enough, the cold will penetrate through to the skin.  I did have to remove them yesterday because they got too cold. (we also use the ice packs over the casts just to keep him cool under the casts).

We went out today, just me and the 2 boys and boy does my back hurt.  I think I am more tired today than I ever thought of being at work..lol..  We ventured to Wal-Mart, Game Stop, eat ice cream, and finally home.  Ethan was a very popular little boy with all the attention from strangers.  You know, it’s funny to hear a conversation between a child and parent after they have passed you.  One child said, “why is he in a wheelchair with casts?” and the mom said, “honey, sometimes things that that happen.”  I did have a lot of “awww man” and “poor thing”  today and I had to explain his happenings about 4 different times, but it keeps things interesting.

Ethan did try to stand today and couldn’t put weight on his legs yet.  Over all, a great day:P
