ATR & Me (BFF’s)
hi!
well my new friend is my right achilles tendon which i ruptured on 3-17-09. I went to the gym and was warming up doing some stretching and little half sprints before joining a pick up game of B-ball. when i went to turn and run back the other way , my leg felt like it was kicked from behind along with the loud indistinguishable popping sound! there wasn’t really much pain in my leg, at least not as much mentally, knowing that i just had life altering injury! ( for the next 8-10 months anyway) thanks for having this blog! i find it very supporting especially since this injury can be kinda depressing for a very active person!

Ldub,
My suggestion is to get in and get the surgery done. Choose a surgeon that has experience with athletes and sports injuries. Most likely he will be more aggressive in his approach to getting your achilles healed again. This blog has helped me a ton and I am just starting this long process. I only hope that what I have learned here will help get me a long a little faster. I’m off to the gym today to try and lift some weights with my upper body, going stir crazy in the house.
Get the surgery as the clock is ticking on the success rate of your recovery and when you can get on the court again.
yeah i cant wait. my surgery is tomorrow morning. thanks for your comment, its excellent advise First, I am Blessed for a great job and excellent insurance. I am going to a orthopedic sports medicine center here in portland. unfortunately this was as soon as i could get in for the repair. i guess my doctor has a pretty good reputation, so i am looking forward to starting the long recovery process. thanks again & stay healthy!
