I once was a warrior until an arrow hit my heel

About Me

I am currently a graduate student (no better time to be immobile!) in the Midwest. I am very active and enjoy running, spinning, boxing, lifting weights, hiking, and playing basketball. I ruptured my left achilles tendon playing recreational basketball on 12/1/2014. Based on the current medical literature, I opted out of surgery in favor of active rehabilitation (cast then walking boot).

My motivations for writing this blog are twofold: (1) I hope to disseminate vital information from my successes and failures to others who have unfortunately found themselves in this same predicament and (2) I want to become part of a larger support network of individuals who have successfully navigated the somewhat daunting rehabilitation process associated with this injury.

Recovery from my ATR, while a generally common and non-life threatening injury, has become a great exercise in patience, mental fortitude, and optimism! I hope you enjoy my blog :)
