One Crutch or None…Thoughts?

At my 6 week Post Op appointment, my Doctor said to lose the crutches within two weeks. Well I’ve tried walking with one crutch and things are good. I also tried with no crutches and things are good as well. Should I have any concerns about walking without the crutches? If I can do it, even though I’m slow, should I start walking without them? My biggest fear is the chance of re-rupture. Any thoughts?

  1. dog..

use the crutches as a support, don’t put all your weight on them. We had a person on this site that stumbled and really pulled the repaired site. Better to be safe at the 6-8 week mark than sorry.

  4. Place the bolster under the arm inverse your more fragile leg (see figure above). Push the brace ahead and venture with your more fragile leg in the meantime. Keep the brace near your body for help and parity (see figure at right). Bolster your load on both your support and your more fragile leg.
