About Me
Well, my name is Kevin and I’m 33 years old and had surgery on my ATR (back in October 2012). My injury occured during a faculty-student basketball game at my school quite awhile back. I’m a father to twins, Social Studies teacher, music lover, avid hiker/backpacker, and basketball fan. So hoping I can get back on the trails in the near future (After recovery of course). I have a wonderful girlfriend (Caskie) who will be my helper and keeper throughout this experience, and hopefully my kids will put up with my shenanigans throughout my recovery and after to. If you would like to know anything else just ask.

Hi Kevin. I’m thoroughly enjoying reading your blog and wanted to drop you a quick note. I see you’re in Danville - I’m in Hampton. Just starting my first week post surgery for the second time, and I don’t want a THIRD to be in my future anytime soon.
Your activities give me something to look forward to. For now I’m just taking it easy and letting my foot heal.
Take care!
Jack
Yep, I’ve been here in Danville, VA for the past nine years. Watched the demise of the textile industry. I noticed you were from Hampton earlier, and again sorry to about your “accident” and subsequent second surgery. I could of just as easily did the same thing when I first started taking a shower and sleeping without my boot. I think second time around you will be fine as long as there are no more mishaps.
My activity level has drastically changed since my days of wearing the boot, but I still have a major strength/endurance deficit. I’m still not allowed to run, hop, or jump (at 21 weeks, which is not necessary the norm). So, once I can do plyometrics and have most of my previous endurance back I’ll feel recovered. Keep us posted, we Virginia folks need to keep together!
Good luck and Happy healing.
Hey man just wanted to say I hope all went well with you this weekend. I also wanted to inform you that my father-in-law is from Danville VA. Small tow place with a great history behind it. I will chat with you more but I just wanted to say have a great week man, cause I know it’s hard staying positive with this big ass cast on our leg! But we will see brighter days soon enough!
Thanks man, I remember my NWB days like they were last week! All I can say is that it does get better, especially after you get to FWB, which most hit around 4-6 weeks, although I was more like 8-9 weeks. Where are you from? Good luck with your recovery Determined, I look forward hearing from you.
Just chiming in to say that you are an excellent writer and your blog is a pleasure to read. I’m looking forward to hear about your continued progress.

Thanks Kelly and RR.
