This cast needs to come off already!

Posted at 1:51 pm under Uncategorized

I’m scheduled to see my podiatrist this Friday to get my cast taken off, and placed into a walking boot. I can’t wait until I get this cast off! This one is much more uncomfortable than the first one I had, most likely because of the angle my foot is in. It seems like my foot is a lot more swollen and discolored compared to when I had the first cast on. The swelling also does not seem to go down as much as it did before. I’m just ready to say goodbye to it. Only a few more days!

Elevate your leg above your heart as much as possible.
Even with the boot you are going to get swelling.

    Good luck!

I echo the comment above, keeping your leg above your heart is important although you will still experience swelling. I was 4 weeks in a hard cast and am into just my first week of a removable boot, still not weight bearing though. And yeah I’m getting really tired of elevating my leg whenever possible, have not gotten a full night sleep since this experience started. Remember though we’re all in it for the long haul, it’s the quality of recovery 12 months out that’s the real objective.
