Cast #2
Thanks to you all for talking me into calling the doc. I went in and got the cast off and got a new one with more of an angle. The first was a complete point (like a Ballerina point) - this one was as far as I could get it without being too terrified of stitches popping - probably about 50 deg. but better than the 90 down before! I posted the comparison pics below. I feel very relieved that I at least tried to get some angle. I had her put more padding around my bony ankles as well and the incision - it was excruciatingly painful last night and had to take a Lortab to sleep. I hate being a complainer - but it sure beats being in pain and worrying about healing too short.

I didn’t feel any pain when stretching (just felt like it wouldn’t go any further - no elasticity) but was completely freaked out about ripping the stitches in my tendon - so I didn’t get far. They wouldn’t push - she said I had to do it (the cast lady - doc was out)- as they didn’t stretch the tendon until it was fully healed at 6 weeks. Interesting how all the docs are so different in their protocols…
Now I can sleep - I like having more of a “boot ready” look to my foot. The ballerina point was cute - but I think normofthenorth and others are right about healing in that position - it will give me more trouble and work down the road. I’m glad the cast was too tight - it gave me the impetus to go in and get the thing changed. Blessings, Kim

Just got my Vaco cast from UPS - it’s more secure than a cast (tried it on the good leg). DANG I wish I’d had it at my appointment - I’d be in it!!!!! It’s so superior to the garbage they gave me - Vaco really needs a better marketing plan because everyone would have one….wish I’d ordered it before I got this painful fiberglass thing on. Bummer. Can’t wait till next week!
